About Us
Donny Myhre, is a retired professional skateboarder with over 30 years of skateboarding experience. He grew up skating in Gainesville, FL with the influences of friends and fellow pro skaters such as Monty Nolder, Mike McGill and Rodney Mullen. After rising in the ranks as an amateur skater in the 80’s, he turned pro for Zorlac Skateboards in 1988. Endorsing three different signature model skateboards, T-shirts and stickers, sold world wide, skating led him to travel extensively throughout Europe doing demonstrations and competing in international competitions. Notable in his travels is the time spent at the skateboard summer camps in Bourges, France and Stockholm, Sweden in 1986 to 1990. Donny enjoyed teaching at the camps so much that he minored in education while studying for his BS in French at the University of Florida and the Sorbonne in Paris. After a one year stint skating and snowboarding in Switzerland in 1993, Donny found his way back home to Florida once again. In 1996 he built his own skatepark named Area 51 in Gainesville, FL. After a life threatening motorcycle injury in 1998, Donny met Jessie Summerville and married her not long thereafter in 2001. He currently resides in Franklin with Jessie and their two daughters Chavey and Marley. Where they all enjoy skating together
Jessie Myhre
Jessie Myhre has skated for 8 years (in between pregnancies) and from the first moment on a board she fell in love with it. Jessie works great with kids and we find that girls enjoy seeing a woman skater in a male dominated sport. Jessie and Donny opened FRANKLIN SKATE SHOP on November 1, 2007 and have enjoyed every minute of it so far!
